Short form: Jolene
(Short story idea, written in five minutes during a writing sprint)
Editor’s note: Over the next few months, I’ll share some of my short-form fiction with you here, as well as updates on my Kindle Vellas. The following was written during a five-minute writing sprint.
“I’m” NOT going to karaoke with you, I have too much work to do” Jolene huffed. Jerry sighed. He knew he was taking a chance asking Jolene, whom he’d met at a party given by his cousin. But he thought getting out and having a little fun might break that rude exterior of hers. How could such an accomplished baker of Disney-themed cakes be mean all the time?
He’d visited her shop. It was tricked out with every Disney character you could think of, from the princesses to the Lion King. Fun toys, video games and incredible furnishings filled a corner of the shop for the kids to enjoy while parents ordered delicacies. He wondered just how much these things, plus all her appliances and ingredients cost, but then remembered she came from money.
Jolene rolled her eyes and abruptly stalked off back to the bakery.
